1. Looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming EIN Workshop #6!
From: The EIN6 Planning Committee

Folks! Thank you for registering for the upcoming Eastern Invasives
Learning Network workshop on October 3-5th, 2006 in Saratoga Springs, New
York! We are expecting a large turn-out (60-70 attendees!) for this
workshop and are looking forward to seeing you all! If you have any
questions about the workshop and travel logistics:

Lodging/Travel/Field trip - Hilary Oles (holes(at)tnc.org or
518-576-2082x131)
Workshop content, or anything else - Barry Rice (bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu or
530-754-8891)

---------------------------------------

2. Travel reminders
From: Mandy Tu & Hilary Oles

When you are packing for your trip to New York, remember to bring suitable
clothes for the field trip--which may include a visit to a native plant
nursery, a short hike, and/or some weed removal work! Plan to be outside
for about 5-6 hours.

Also, if you are a TNC staffer and reside in a state where you (or TNC) do
not have to pay state sales tax, remember to bring your TNC tax-exempt form
for your hotel bill. To see if TNC has tax-exempt status in your state, see

3. Speaker/materials info
From: Mandy Tu (imtu(at)tnc.org)

We will have a laptop and computer projector available for speaker
presentations. Bring your presentation on either a CD or thumb-drive. If
you would like to have paper copies of your powerpoint presentation or other
handout materials (sample pamphlets, strategic plan, data collection sheets,
etc.) available for participants, please e-mail or mail these materials to
Lana Swanson (lswanson(at)tnc.org) by September 15th, or bring 70 copies for
inclusion into our notebook folders.

---------------------------------------

4. Bring a poster/handout of your invasive species work!
From: Mandy Tu (imtu(at)tnc.org)

If you have an existing poster or handout (or if you want to create a new
one) describing your invasive species work, please feel free to bring it to
share your work with others! Unfortunately, we do not have enough time for
everyone to give a presentation on their invasive species projects during
the workshop, but if you would like to bring a poster or handout, please
feel free to do so!

---------------------------------------

5. Homework Reminder!
From: Mandy Tu (imtu(at)tnc.org)

Your homework assignment for this workshop (which should be completed prior
to the workshop) can be downloaded from
http://tncinvasives.ucdavis.edu/networks.html. The homework will work to guide
you through the 5S/CAP planning process, and can also help you assess the
status of your invasives work at both the site/project and OU/state scale.
Your homework assignment is DUE by September 15th, 2006. Please send your
completed homework to both Lana Swanson (lswanson(at)tnc.org) and David
Gumbart (dgumbart(at)tnc.org).

If you have questions about the homework, please contact David Gumbart
(dgumbart(at)tnc.org or 860-344-0716), Kristina Serbesoff-King
(kserbesoffkin(at)tnc.org or 561-744-6668), or Kathy Schwager
(kschwager(at)tnc.org or 631-367-3384x125).

6. Need free housing at the upcoming EIN Workshop #6?
From: Mandy Tu (imtu(at)tnc.org)

Troy Weldy, who works for TNC in Albany, has offered to house 1-2 people
near the workshop if you prefer to stay with TNC staff and/or if you need to
keep your travel costs down. The first 2 people to directly contact Troy
about this has dibs! Troy adds that he has two young children at home who
generally sleep through the night. Contact Troy directly if you are
interested in this gracious offer.

7. Carpooling from and to the airport
From: Mandy Tu (imtu(at)tnc.org)

Several people will be flying into the Albany airport (ALB) for this
workshop. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to specifically
assign carpools for so many people, but a list of people who will be
arriving at ALB, their approximate arrival time, and who may be willing to
give rides and/or carpool with you has been posted on our website (url
below). Please contact these people directly if you wish to carpool to the
meeting. At the workshop, we will start a list for transportation returning
to ALB at the conclusion of the workshop. Taxis are also available for the
25 mile ride from the airport to Saratoga Springs, which should cost
approximately $45 each way.

8. Hotel/lodging and rooming info
From: Hilary Oles (holes(at)tnc.org)

Hotel rooming information at the Holiday Inn has been placed online at the
url below. This Excel workbook displays roommate information for those that
will be sharing double-occupancy rooms and single rooms. This information
has already been submitted to the Holiday Inn, but if there are any
inaccuracies or changes to your lodging plans, please let Hilary Oles know
as soon as possible. Thanks!
