1. The 3rd Eastern Invasives Network Workshop approaches!

The third Eastern Invasive Species Network workshop is coming soon! At
this meeting we will focus on setting objectives for reducing Very High
and High invasive species threat status ratings or maintaining Medium or
Low ratings, developing strategies to meet these objectives, and measuring
progress towards these objectives.

We will also delve deeper into ideas for working with partners and examine
the concepts of whether there are thresholds of invasive species abundance
or distribution below which their impacts are acceptable AND whether it is
possible to identify conditions when invaders and their impacts are
irreversible.

Some logistical details for you to consider as the workshop approaches...

**We will meet 4-7 March 2003, at the Rocky Gap Resort in Cumberland,
   Maryland.
**The airport closest to the meeting site is Baltimore/Washington
   International Airport (BWI). (Pittsburgh and the other DC area airports
   are equi-distant.)
**We will attempt to arrange carpools from BWI. If you wish to
   carpool, contact Jen Schimmenti (jschimmenti(at)tnc.org) by February 21.
**When you register for the meeting, your hotel reservations will be made
   automatically. The rooms are $89/night. If you wish to share a room
   with someone, your cost will be only $44.50/night.

We will send you the homework for the 3rd workshop later this week. This
time we would like all sites (participating and focal) to do the same
homework. I know that you are all busy, so please DO NOT spend more than
a day and a half on it - less time is better. If you feel it will take
more than 1.5 days, complete only those parts you can do in 1.5 days.

We do not yet have a workshop registration page up on the website, but
will alert you in a week or so when it is ready and posted at:
http://tnc-ecomanagement.org/Weeds/.

We will also send you an agendum at that time. If a subject you want
covered or a speaker you want to hear from is missing, let us know! We
have some space for participants from sites that did not attend the first
two workshops so feel free to pass this on to others who you think might
want to and would benefit from joining us.

We will keep you updated with information about the site, and updates to
the agenda and lists of participants as we learn the details. If you have
