Southeast Asian Ambrosia Beetle ID
This project will enhance our ability to identify potential ambrosia beetle pests at a national level. Specifically, 1) we will create the first comprehensive, user-friendly, multi-media web site for the SE Asian fauna, complete with a multi-entry identification key, species fact sheets, glossary, image gallery, and other content to support and enhance the identification process; 2) DNA identification will augment morphologically-based identification especially immature life stages and adults with cryptic diagnostic characters; and 3) the offshore initiative with VAS and PSU will allow for the collection of potentially invasive pests from SE Asia for their inclusion in the web-based key and DNA database.
