1. The 4th Network Workshop approaches!

---------------------------------------

Greetings!

The fourth Eastern Invasive Species Network workshop is coming soon! We will meet January 13-15 in central peninsular Florida near the Kissimmee River. This message contains:
1. preliminary information about where the workshop will be held and    registration;
2. the workshop homework assignment;
3. the DRAFT agendum.

Contact us with any suggestions on the draft agendum. We will keep you updated with information about the site, updates to the agenda and lists of participants. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact John (jarandall(at)ucdavis.edu, 530 754 8890) or Barry (bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu, 530 754 8891).

1. The registration period for the meeting will be 8-24 December. You will be emailed registration materials on the 8th (Monday).

We will hold the meeting at the Archbold Biological Station near Lake Placid, Florida. This facility is rustic but very cheap, much like our Network leader, John Randall. Lodging (including a daily station fee and three meals per day) will cost only $38/person/day. Information about the Station can be viewed at:
http://www.archbold-station.org/abs/index.htm

Conventional wisdom is that the Biological Station is best served by the Orlando airport, but that the Tampa airport may also be inexpensive. Both airports are two hours (~110 miles) from the Biological Station by car.
The field trip will include a tour of restoration sites along the scenic Kissimmee River, starting from the Riverwoods Field Laboratory:

We will have room for 35 participants total---after that, housing will become difficult. So while spouses/partners are welcome at the station (and on the field trip), housing priority will be given to network participants. (Additional housing is available at Lake Placid, several miles away.)

2. The homework assignment is attached. Please complete and return it to John Randall (jarandall(at)ucdavis.edu) and Barry Rice (bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu) by January 6th. Contact Barry if you have problems opening the attachment, you will also be able to download it from the WIST web site on Monday, 8 December:

3. A DRAFT agenda is attached. Contact Barry if you have problems opening the attachment.
