1. Nina Totenberg, Cokie Roberts, but no John Randall? (Global)
From: Barry Rice (bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu)

If you, like me, were disappointed when you didn't hear John Randall's
insightful comments on NPR on the morning of 20 March, do not despair!
He was merely bumped to the morning of the 21st. If you missed it, go to
our home page (http://tncinvasives.ucdavis.edu) and follow the links to
Ketzel Levine's and Morning Edition's archived presentations. We are very
pleased with how they turned out.

I have also put on our web site a number of useful documents that may be
helpful for you if you are looking for information to give to press about
invasive species threats---follow the link on our web site's front
page, or go directly to the download page
(http://tncinvasives.ucdavis.edu/outreach.html).

Species Management Plan for Florida began on March 6, 2002 and will end on
April 26, 2002. The location for the public hearing on the draft plan
will be held at the University of Central Florida's Student Union
Building, Key West Room 218 ABCD, in Orlando on Friday, April 26, 2002
from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The plan and the public notice, as pdf files,
are posted at the DEP Bureau of Invasive Plant Management web site along
with directions to UCF
(http://www.dep.state.fl.us/lands/invaspec/index.htm).

3. Seminar in Mississippi (Mississippi, USA)
From: Bob Brzuszek (crosbyar(at)datastar.net)

Do you have serious problems in your landscape with cogon grass, Chinese
privet, Japanese honeysuckle, or climbing fern? Are kudzu vine and
wisteria threatening to overtake your house? Then join us for a one-day
seminar (10 May 2002) devoted to the identification, control, and
management strategies of invasive exotic pest plants. Lectures, tours,
exhibits, and field identification will teach you how to recognize and get
a handle on problem plants. The cost is only $15, and includes lunch.

More information is on line at: http://tncinvasives.ucdavis.edu/meetings.html
