1. RJKOSE funding for 2001 (Nationwide)
From: John Randall (jarandall(at)ucdavis.edu)

TNC's Conservation Science Division is now asking for funding proposals
under the popular Rodney Johnson and Katharine Ordway Stewardship
Endowments (RJKOSE). RJKOSE funds are used to encourage scientific work of
The Conservancy, especially in ecological restoration and management.

The RJKOSE program is administered by TNC's Monitoring and Adaptive
Management Program in Boise, Idaho. For more information, you can contact
Tim Whittier (twhittier(at)tnc.org) or download the application form from the
Wildland Invasive Species Team web site at:
http://tncinvasives.ucdavis.edu/newsnotes.html

---------------------------------------

2. National Wildlife Federation student funding (Nationwide)
From: Kathy Cacciola (acciola(at)nwf.org)

The National Wildlife Federation's Campus Ecology program is now accepting
applications for Spring 2001 Fellowships! The Fellowship Program offers a
nationally recognized opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students
to pursue their vision of an ecologically sustainable future. This may be
a good program for TNC offices to back if they have a student working on
good projects but need funding. Proposals are due 15 November.

---------------------------------------

3. Draft National Invasive Species Management Plan (Nationwide)
From: Barry Rice (bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu)

The highly publicized Draft National Invasive Species Management Plan,
written by the National Invasive Species Council, has gone on line at
http://www.invasivespecies.gov. From now until 16 November it is in
a public input stage.

---------------------------------------

4. On line survey of weed issues (Nationwide)
From: Terri Schulz (tschulz(at)tnc.org)

(Terri forwarded us this message from Will Murray, TNC)

TNC is engaged in a project to develop an organization-wide strategy for
dealing with the threat posed by invasive alien species. We are gathering
information about what people in TNC are doing, planning and thinking
about invasive alien species. To make it easy on folks, we designed a
short survey on a web page:
http://www.sierrasite.com/impact/invasives/survey.htm

Thanks for your help.
