1. Euphorbia cyparissias control methods
From: Marilyn Jordan (mjordan(at)tnc.org)

We have a problem with Cypress spurge at Hempstead Plains on Long Island;
it's slowly creeping into a subpopulation of endangered Agalinis acuta.
John Randall visited site in fall of 1997, suggested trying hand-pulling.
We tried pulling, but it had no lasting effect.

To get approval to use biocontrol TNC requires that every other possible
means of control be tried first, unless alternatives would cause
greater ecosytem damage than biocontrol. Since our most critical problem
area at Hempstead Plains is fairly circumscribed, and only 19 acres, it
behooves us to try herbicide first. Also, endangered Agalinis is an
annual and should not be affected by careful herbicide application in
spring or late fall.
