Global Invasive Species Team listserve digest #001
Mon, 9 Nov 1998 15:39:53 -0800 (PST)
----Welcome to The Nature Conservancy's Invasive Species Team Listserver!----
This listserve was created to serve TNC staff who deal with invasive
species problems, and will cover invasive animals and microorganisms as
well as plants. A few non-TNC land managers who work closely with the
Wildland Weeds office are also on the list. We enrolled you because of your
demonstrated interest in invasive species issues. We (Barry Rice and
John Randall) will contribute to the list, but its real power will come
from contributions by you, the users.
This list is moderated by Barry to ensure the messages are concise and
relevant. Barry will compile and send all the messages for the day in
"digest" format, which means you will receive at most one message for the
day. On many days the list will generate no messages.
-- We Created This List to:----
1)Exchange information and advice on invasive species, including warnings
of new pests and advice on how to prevent, contain, and control them;
2)Provide alerts on relevant legislation and policy proposals and actions;
3)Post notices about useful articles and tools;
4)Provide a forum for your questions, ideas, and answers about pests;
5)Provide alerts on control and research funding opportunities.
The list will be maintained until June 1999 when we will analyse its
utility and determine whether to continue, terminate or expand it.
