Entoloma abortivum has two morphological forms, a typical gilled mushroom and a glob-shaped disc of fungal flesh. The mushroom form has a steely-gray, pink-spored, gilled cap. Glob-shaped disc looks like a malformed puffball. The "arborted" Entoloma abortivum is either a parasite of species of Armillaria or a victim of parasitization by Armillaria spp.
