Plant(s); 1. Branchlet with male catkins (a - h). - 2. Branchlet with female catkins (m - v). - 3. Branchlet with mature shoots and ripe fruits (a - c). Seeds with tuft of silky hairs (b, c). Leaves are alternating in position (but often opposite in the upper part of the branchlets), oblanceolate, broadest at the upper third of their length. - 4.
