![]() Diagram or Graphic; 1. Branchlet with young shoots terminated by pendulous racemes. - 2. Mature shoot with ripe double samaras. Wings of the samaras diverge at a right angle - typically about 60°, nutlets are ovoid, conspicuously convex. - 3. Seedling with cotyledons (k) and first pair of ordinary leaves. - 4. Winter-branchlet; buds are yellowish-green, terminal buds larger. Leaf-scar is elongated, heart-shaped, vascular bundles are in compound groups of three.
