Description: A mycorrhizal fungus associated with hardwoods (especially oaks). They are found growing alone, scattered, or gregariously in summer and fall on forest floors. Medium-sized to large, yellow to orange-yellow mushrooms with a broadly convex, flat, or shallowly depressed cap, a central fleshy stem, and false gills on the underside of the cap.
