A large, old stem growing up oak (Quercus petraea). Ogwen Woods, Bethesda, N. Wales, UK. Since sheep relish ivy, there are suspicions that this one got above their browse in a period of agricultural recession, maybe the 1920's. The fresh growth on the left is ungrazed because the wall behind was recently repaired.
