Description:
Roots in saturated soil may asphyxiate with ethanol accumulation.  Affected roots when cut open have a sweet odor, reduced latex flow, glossy appearance and rot in storage (Nov77, cv.Jewel). In sweetpotato, this condition is called "sour."
