Host: burley tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum (burley type)
var. exigua Sacc.
Description: Spots are tan colored, with minute dark circular specks present on the surface of the spot. Brown spot and ragged leaf spot may be confused. The presence of distinct, circular, black fruiting bodies (pycnidia), which may be seen under magnification, distinguishes this disease from brown spot. The tissue in the spot may become papery-thin, tearing easily and giving the spot a ragged appearance. This disease is usually of minor importance, showing up late in the season on the lower leaves.
