chemicals

Host: flue-cured tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum (flue-cured type) L.)
Descriptor: Damage
Description: Xylene is a chemical carrier present in some emulsifiable concentrate pesticides. When high rates of pesticides containing this chemical are applied under high pressure to young tobacco leaves, injury is very similar to a mild case of 2,4-D injury. The leaves are slightly narrower than normal and may have a glossy appearance, but are not as stiff as those with 2,4-D injury.
