irrigation
Descriptor: Application
Description: The newly-sown seedbeds are kept "moist, but not wet" and seeds germinate within a few weeks. The overhead sprinkler irrigation not only supplies water for seedling growth, but also is used to cool the soil surface while the new germinants are still succulent. Irrigation can also provide protection against late fall or early spring frosts.
